Well here’s a nice indie film by Lizzie Borden a sex worker/film maker with a Marxist Critique of the brothel system . My kind of girl!! Made in 1986, it’s called Working Girls. Mirrors my own experience in places like this but little cleaned up but good . If you want a inside look in I recommend this classic. She made this movie with her own sex worker money. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizzie_Borden_(director)

surplus value is the difference between the cost of producing a product and the amount of money made from selling it. In Marxist economics, it's the amount of profit a capitalist makes from a worker's labor.

Explanation

  • In Marxist theory, surplus value is the difference between the value of a worker's labor and the value of what they produce.

  • It's the amount of labor a worker performs that goes beyond what's required to pay them for their work.

  • Surplus value is a measure of the capitalist's profits and the worker's exploitation.

  • The capitalist claims ownership of the product, the worker's labor, and the means of production.

Example

  • If a worker produces a commodity that's worth more than the cost of the materials, labor, and plant used to make it, then the difference is surplus value.
